Rovio Serious Game Challenges Players To Collect 1,000,000 lbs Of Ocean Plastics

Related Post: Chichi Reef Warrior A Simple Addictive Game Under The Overarching Theme Of Conservation On the 22nd of this month  We Are The Oceans  (WATO), the ocean conservation NGO, proudly launched the first in a series of gaming initiatives designed to educate and inspire behavior change around the daily use of plastics, highlighting the hugely damaging impact they have on our world’s oceans. The launch of  The Big Catch , playable online at www.watoceans.org/thebigcatch , features a rare and endangered Vaquita porpoise, one of the most endangered marine mammals today, with estimated numbers at below 30. In  The Big Catch  the Vaquita travels through several highly polluted real-world ocean locations, cleaning them of harmful plastics and getting to the source of the problem whilst educating players along the journey. Related Post: K-12 Innovators To Update Use Of Serious Games In The Classroom At 2017 Serious Play Conference David Conover , an innovative high school at risk teacher, engages his students -- and stimulates an interest in a career in technology - by having the students build games and simulations for young patients at Dell Children's Hospital in Austin, Texas. In one of first projects, Conover's class created a simulation around infectious diseases for use with Minecraft, a popular software that lets kids program.
